Summerhouse Services

'Supporting Brighter Futures'

Safe Spaces For Young People's Mental Health

Children and Young People's Practitioner Training

These person-centred, outcome-led training workshops and courses have been developed in response to practitioner feedback and requests for a training experience that is accessible, engaging, interactive, informative and relevant and that offers straightforward, safe and effective techniques for supporting children and young people's mental health, We have also consulted with young people, parents and carers to identify what, in their view would be helpful for practitioners from their viewpoint. The workshops are equally relevant for those that have no experience of the field of mental health, as well as those that work with children and young people who may be experiencing mental health issues. The approaches offer both preventative options, as well as tools that will help a child or young person that may have issues with their mental health in different ways. We have a virtual offer for all services and use the same engaging style for this purpose.

Summerhouse Services has gained a reputation of being able to combine approaches that are highly effective and professional, in an environment that is relaxed, supportive, creative and friendly. We work in small groups of generally no larger than 16 people and  there is rarely any Power point on our watch, preferring as we do, to use an approach that promotes discussion, small group work and lively interaction, with regular use of music, drama, appropriate humour and occasionally working outdoors; this tends to provide a more enjoyable experience for you and you are thereby more likely to remember the content ! The subjects covered are often highly emotive and can be very distressing for some to talk about; however, we fully respect this and aim to offer a sensitive and empathic approach and you are always welcome to get in touch for a chat beforehand if you have any concerns around this.

We have received extremely positive feedback for all workshops and other services since becoming a not-for-profit in May 2021 and you can see some examples of comments on the workshop pages.  All workshops are fully evaluated; click here to view.

We also offer a bespoke, consultancy service that can tailor training to your specific needs and deliver at your own venue or on Zoom if wished.  Please contact Penny for more details.

If you have any questions, would like to be put into our distribution list, or have requests for specific subjects to be covered, please do not hesitate to contact us for a chat.  We look forward to hearing from you !
